Many machine vision applications now require high-resolution 3D depth images to replace or augment standard 2D map imaging. Such solutions rely on tof cameras to provide reliable depth information for safety, especially when the machine is working in close proximity to people. Tof cameras also need to provide reliable depth information when working in challenging environments, such as large spaces with highly reflective surfaces and environments with other moving objects.
Current many products use low-resolution rangefinder-type solutions to provide depth information to enhance 2D imaging. However, this approach has many limitations. For applications that benefit from higher resolution 3D depth information, ToF cameras offer the highest performance solutions on the market. ToF cameras can be applied to video background blur, facial authentication and measurement applications, and automotive use scenarios such as driver status monitoring.
