3D ToF camera has become an important sensing solution for robot vacuum. For household robot vacuum, 3D ToF camera is expected to become standard soon, and may be supplemented by more sensors. This is also an important direction for the evolution of robot vacuum.
After the robot vacuum is equipped with 3D ToF camera, the robot vacuum can “see” all the obstacles in front of you at one time; combined with the robot vacuum manufacturer’s own system design, it is easy to avoid wire entanglement and avoid entering narrow spaces; and it is conducive to construction clean up paths and maps more intelligently.
At least in the home environment, the tof camera can fully meet the obstacle avoidance and path planning requirements of the robot vacuum. Earlier, some robot vacuum used LiDAR modules in order to achieve longer-distance measurements-this may be greatly restricted in cost and volume control. The above-mentioned 3D ToF camera can actually partially replace the LiDAR scheme, although both are essentially specific applications of the ToF method.
